The transnational research program on Modernist Reinventions of the Rural Landscapes will hold its kick-off event at the Politecnico Milano. During three days, the main researchers, board members as well as students and invited speakers will discuss the different layers of the project.

Day 1 will focus on reviewing the initial questions and available knowledge of each case study (see the MODSCAPES case studies map on our about page).
Also, there will be a screening of a recent documentary movie dealing with the specific case of one former Francoist village in Spain, followed by a debate with the moviemakers.

On Day 2, invited experts – Prof. Olaf Kühne (University of Tübingen), Prof. Paul Meurs (TU Delft), Prof. Helen Meller (University of Nottingham) – will deliver guest lectures on the relationship between landscape and power, on the enhancement of 18th century agricultural colonies as World heritage, on the importance of history in the study of regional planning experiments.

On Day 3, the Modscapes researchers, students, advisory board and invited experts will collaborate in a one-day workshop on Setting up the MODSCAPES Exhibition, which is one of the key planned outputs of the project (both physical and virtual).
