Axel Fisher and Michele Tenzon from the Université libre de Bruxelles will participate at the 2017 Symposium of the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain.
‘Beyond By: Towards an Inclusive Architectural History’ is the title of this year SAHGB annual meeting. Has ‘by’ been the main thing continuing to divide polite and vernacular? If it is rejected as the primary way of making sense of the built environment, where does this leave traditional architectural history? Have we been preoccupied by questions of the authorship of structures, and are there better and more valid ways of making sense of the built environment?
Modscapes members together with scholars and practitioners from the fields of architectural history and preservation will discuss these and other questions next Saturday 3rd June 2017 at the Stirling Prize-shortlisted Saw Swee Hock Student Centre of the London School of Economics (O’Donnell + Tuomey, 2013).
