We are very happy to announce that our proposal for the workshop

have been granted by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) within the program: Hochschuldialog mit Südeuropa!

The project is a collaboration between the Habitat Unit and the Università degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, faculty of Architecture.

Vittoria Capresi will present projects of social housing in the GDR rural areas, relating the MODSCAPES themes with the issue of social housing in Berlin.

ABSTRACT: The reconstruction after the Second World War in Berlin and Naples had many common features.
Projects of social housing were one of the biggest tasks for the two cities.
Which were the theoretical schemes used? How were those social housing projects planned, implemented and inhabited? Which is their conservation status today? Which are the current social, architectural and adaptation challenges?
Two Workshops of five days, one in Berlin and one in Naples, will involve students, experts, and academics to compare various case studies in the two cities.

The first workshop took place in Berlin, 15-19 June 2019. The second workshop will take place in Naples, 25-29 July 2019.
